Check out this look into some fun and interesting video games that you won’t want to miss.
No other country has as many strange cultural differences when it comes to video games as Japan does, with its own practices and customs that show up in its media. The island country is one of a kind, and its people are very proud of their history, especially when it comes to video games.
Normal video games can get pretty boring after a while, especially after finishing your 100th Beat ’em Up or FPS game. That’s a good place to try out new, strange games for people in other parts of the world. You might even find some that are specific for people all over the world.
No One Can Stop Mr. Domino
You can control a walking domino that comes to life and waddles its way through a number of different maps. It does this by dropping dominoes, which set off events that keep the chain going. This game is a fun way to pass the time because it’s easy to understand but a little hard to handle.
Between Mr. Domino and Mrs. Domino, you can pick one. The idea behind the video game is pretty simple, but it’s brilliantly executed, and it’s very enjoyable to get good at it.
Mad Panic Coaster
This Japanese video game is a real thrill ride. It’s fast-paced, exciting, and surprisingly hard to get through. As you go through the different tracks, try not to fall off the tracks when the ride is over.
What’s happening on screen is beautiful enough to keep you interested, and the two kids riding the coaster are expressive enough that you’ll like them by the end.
Mister Mosquito
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be a mosquito? Now you can do that, but there’s a catch. With your sentience, you make a Japanese family very angry with your pranks while you keep them busy and drink their sweet blood while avoiding any attempts on your life.
While the idea is definitely “out there,” the gameplay is fun enough to keep you going until you figure out how to reach your goals. If you can stick with it, it’s a fun and quick game to play.
Cho Aniki Zero
If you like strongmen with a lot of muscle and arcade shooters with a personality, the Cho Aniki series is for you. You can fly through the sky as powerful muscle guys in a game whose story doesn’t make nearly as much sense as its picture.
In this fast-paced shooter game, you have to keep shooting at all kinds of strange enemies while ignoring most of the other things on the screen. Even though it’s hard to keep up with everything going on around you, it’s still fun to guess what might happen next.
Chulip
Start your loveless job as a poor boy who doesn’t know how to be in a relationship. As you do tasks, you’ll build a reputation that will help you get that kiss from your dream crush. You can pretty much try to kiss anyone in this video game.
Besides that, you talk to a lot of underground people and finally grant all of the town’s strange requests and wishes so you can kiss some of them and earn reputation points to level up. The strange dream scenes you have during the game are just as shocking as everything else.
Jumping Flash!
Putting aside the terrible perspective, Jumping Flash! is probably a retro gem that feels like it should have been bigger than it is because the gameplay is so good, even though it has some problems.
The story is pretty strange; it doesn’t say much other than that you’re a hero trying to defeat an alien race that stole the Earth’s landmarks for some reason. There’s no real information about whether you’re an alien or not, but it looks like you can fight a dragon even though it’s a sci-fi story.
Incredible Crisis
Incredible Crisis is as Japanese as it gets. It’s a collection of fun minigames that show how a family gets into trouble while trying to get home in time for grandma’s birthday party.
As one of four different characters, you get to visit a lot of different places on your way home. There are aliens, a bad guy with no clear goals, and a very angry fisherman in the main story, which is made up of the stories of each family member.
Polaroid Pete
You can move around as a crazy photographer like the paparazzi who wants to sell the latest news in a world that is much stranger and more crazy than the main character’s.
Snake Game is fast-paced and plays like a first-person shooter. You have to pick and choose which events to record with your camera and a limited amount of film. Get things and power-ups that help you do your job better, and keep an eye out for anything interesting.
LSD: Dream Emulator
If you’ve ever had a fever dream, this game probably has some parts of them in it because it has so many levels that are hard to find your way around. It’s hard to know what to do because you’re thrown into each difficult and unique world.
It’s not really the controls that matter, but the things you touch or interact with as you move through each world or dream scene. There is no clear end goal other than to try to find every possible route.
Katamari Damacy
Everything you see can and will become a big Katamari at some point. This first book in the series is a surprisingly good way to start exploring the Katamari-verse. Help your parents, who are in charge of the universe, rebuild it using the stars you make by rolling up everything you see.
Seeing yourself grow is incredibly fun and rewarding, and the music in Katamari Damacy fits the mood perfectly. While the idea behind the game may be easy, the amount of love that went into making it makes you value every moment you spend playing it.
